national income
This term is a technical economic indicator used primarily in formal, academic, or governmental contexts. It carries a neutral, analytical tone and is used to measure the aggregate productivity of a country. It is distinct from Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in that it typically accounts for net income after depreciation and excludes certain transfers.
As a mass noun representing a collective economic value, it is treated as uncountable. It does not have a plural form in standard economic discourse; one refers to the growth of national income or changes in national income rather than national incomes when discussing a single entity's total earnings.
