muladhara
This term originates from Sanskrit, where mulla means root and dhara means support. It is used almost exclusively within the specialized registers of yoga, Ayurveda, and spiritual wellness to describe the first of the seven primary chakras. Because it refers to a specific metaphysical concept, it is rarely used in general conversation outside of these contexts.
In a spiritual or therapeutic context, the word carries a strong connotation of stability and security. Practitioners often speak of balancing or clearing the muladhara to resolve feelings of anxiety or instability, linking the physical base of the spine to a psychological sense of belonging and safety.
