Freon
Freon is a proprietary brand name that has become a genericized trademark in common parlance to refer to various chlorofluorocarbons (CFCs) and hydrofluorocarbons (HFCs). It is used almost exclusively in technical, industrial, or home-maintenance contexts related to HVAC systems and refrigeration.
Because it refers to a chemical substance, it is treated as an uncountable mass noun. It does not have a plural form in standard usage, as one does not refer to multiple "Freons" when discussing the refrigerant gas in a system.
