調整

In Japanese corporate culture, this frequently implies the subtle art of "smoothing things over" behind the scenes to ensure a project proceeds without friction.

Compared to "修正" (shūsei), which implies correcting an error or a mistake, "調整" implies a shift toward an optimal balance.
