携わる

This verb is used to describe being engaged in a professional role, a specific field of work, or a social cause. It carries a formal and serious tone, implying that the person is not just casually involved, but is contributing their skills or effort toward a goal or the maintenance of a system.

Compared to the more general verb 関わる (kakawaru), which can mean any kind of connection or influence (including negative ones like "being involved in a crime"), 携わる is almost exclusively used for positive or neutral professional and social engagement. You would not use 携わる to describe being "involved" in a scandal.
