While both can be translated as intuition or gut feeling, 勘 often implies a sense of judgment derived from accumulated experience or a "hunch" developed over time. In contrast, 直感 is more about the immediate, raw perception of a truth or a direction, regardless of prior experience.

It is commonly used in the adverbial form 直感的に (chokkanteki ni), meaning intuitively or instinctively. This form is widely used in technical, artistic, and psychological contexts to describe actions performed without deliberate thought, such as using a user interface that is intuitive to navigate.
