This term describes a warm, outward expression of love. It is most often associated with tactile displays, such as hugging, kissing, or holding hands, and carries a positive, gentle connotation of emotional openness.

While similar to "loving," affectionate specifically emphasizes the visible or audible manifestation of that love. A person can be loving in their heart but not be affectionate if they are reserved or shy about showing their feelings.
